To pay tribute to one of the most iconic and influential artists of the 20th century Dom Pérignon has teamed up with the Andy Warhol foundation to transform the timeless Dom Pérignon bottle into a design that even Warhol might have approved of.
Adopting Warhol’s playful use of color the Design Laboratory at Central St. Martin’s School of Art and Design created three distinct labels; red, yellow, and blue. These colors were chosen as Warhol frequently used them in his art. Dom Pérignon’s vintage 2002 was chosen for this limited edition design and retails for $150.
A big fan of parties and well-known social butterfly Warhol would enjoy Dom Pérignon with his famous friends at the legendary Studio 54.
Andy Warhol wrote in his diary in 1981:
“… and then we had to go back to the hotel and be picked up by the ’2,000′ people — it’s a club of twenty guys who got together and they’re going to buy 2,000 bottles of Dom Pérignon which they will put in a sealed room until the year 2,000 and then open it up and drink it and so the running joke is who will be around and who won’t.”
ly Warhol was not around for this celebration as he passed away only six years later in 1987.
Bottles are still available if you would like to ring in 2011 in style. For more information please visit www.domperignon.com.
