This year’s Paris Fashion Week or “Mode à Paris” as the French call it, kicked off with the Christian Dior show. Belgian designer, Raf Simmons revitalized the 1950′s-tinged classic frocks with cinched waists resembling the shape of a flower mastering Christian Dior’s revolutionary 1947 New Look as well as putting his very own new couture twist in the pieces.

The Ritz was the place to be on Sunday night in Paris when Donatella Versace finally returned to the last place she saw her late brother, Gianni, to hold this year’s Atelier Versace couture show. The 26 pieces that were showcased were all beautifully provocative and looked absolutely ravishing on every single svelte model that charged down the catwalk. With cinched waists, corseted bodices and billowing techno chiffon, there is no doubt Gianni definitely would have been proud.

Karl Lagerfeld has done it again! It’s all about the powder colored pinks in Chanel’s haute couture Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Oozing elegance down the runway, the collection included casual and formal pieces for the classic Chanel woman with everything from Kate Middelton-esque skirt suits, to textured evening gowns.

This year’s Stephane Rolland Fall/Winter 2012 collection is energetic and breathtaking. The key component in Rolland’s haute couture brand, DNA, is to manipulate movement by tackling space and light with astute sensitivity. The models glide down the runway so gracefully in their figure-forming gowns adorned with shark fin lapels and spiral cocoons creating an optical illusion for the audience. Perfectly chiseled statues are put on display coming to life with every confident step. With a very disciplined palette of red, white and black hues for the Fall/Winter season, Rolland once again creates an undeniably simple, but powerful collection that exudes magnificence and uniqueness.
