On Sunday, November 18, 2012 the stars will descend on the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles to attend one of the hottest music events of the year, the 40th Anniversary American Music Awards. Founded in 1973 by pop music trailblazer, Dick Clark, the winners are determined through online voting by a poll of music buyers.
Music legend, Stevie Wonder is set to perform a tribute to Dick Clark who passed earlier this year, at the awards show introduced by Ryan Seacrest. AMA producer, Larry Klein says of Clark, “Without Dick Clark, our entire current musical repertoire might be classical in nature. Not that there’s anything wrong with classical music, but Clark helped Beethoven roll over and tell Tchaikovsky the news. Sunday’s tribute to Dick Clark performed by iconic Stevie Wonder is going to be talked about for years to come.”
The nominees for Artist of the Year are Drake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, and Rihanna. The runners up for the brand new category, Favorite Electronic Dance Music are David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Skrillex, while former flames Rihanna and Chris Brown will go head to head for Favorite Soul and R&B Album.
Performers of the night include Ludacris, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Swizz Beatz featuring Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, No Doubt and others.
Viewers will be able to watch live on ABC.com, AMAs365.com, Cokemusic.com, Livestream, Ustream, POPSUGAR.com, YouTube and AP Live Entertainment.
